Cookie Policy

Pursuant to EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR), Directive 2002/58/EC (ePrivacy) and the Italian Data Protection Authority Guidelines of 10 June 2021.

1. What are cookies

Cookies are small text files or data fragments (e.g. in localStorage) that websites send to the user's device, where they are stored and sent back to the site on subsequent visits. They make the site work, remember user choices, gather statistics or personalise advertising content.

Depending on their purpose, cookies are either technical (necessary for operation, no consent required) or non-technical (preferences, statistics, marketing — requiring prior, free, specific, informed and unambiguous consent).

2. Types of cookies used on this site

2.1 Strictly necessary cookies

Essential for the operation of the site. They do not require user consent (Art. 122 of the Italian Privacy Code).

  • l5l-cookie-consent-v1 — browser localStorage. Stores the choice made on the cookie banner. Duration: persistent until manually cleared.
  • l5l-lang — browser localStorage. Stores the language selected by the user. Duration: persistent until manually cleared.

2.2 Preference cookies

Store user choices to personalise the experience. Activated only after consent. No third-party profiling cookies are installed without consent.

2.3 Statistics (analytics) cookies

Collect aggregated, anonymised information about how the site is used. Activated only after consent. They are managed via Google Tag Manager (ID GTM-KM9G89LJ) and may include Google Analytics 4 when enabled by the Controller.

2.4 Marketing cookies

Used to display relevant advertising and to measure its effectiveness. Activated only after consent.

3. Third-party cookies and services

The site integrates third-party services that may install their own cookies on the user's device. These parties act as independent data controllers, each according to its own privacy policy.

  • Google Tag Manager (Google Ireland Limited) — tag manager that loads analytics/marketing scripts only after the user's consent, in Consent Mode v2. Privacy Policy.
  • Google Maps (Google Ireland Limited) — embedded map on the "Location" page. May collect IP address and technical data. Privacy Policy.
  • Google Fonts (Google Ireland Limited) — loading of typefaces; may transmit the IP address. Privacy Policy.
  • Octorate — external booking engine; cookies are installed only when the user clicks the "Book" buttons and are managed directly by Octorate. Privacy Policy.
  • WhatsApp (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited) — chat link (wa.me) opening the app or external website; no cookies are set on our site. Privacy Policy.

4. Transfers outside the EU

Some of the third-party services listed may transfer personal data outside the EU, in particular to the United States of America. Such transfers take place under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (EU adequacy decision of 10/07/2023) or, alternatively, under Standard Contractual Clauses adopted by the European Commission (Art. 46 GDPR).

5. Legal basis

For technical cookies the legal basis is the Controller's legitimate interest in the operation of the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR and Art. 122 Italian Privacy Code). For all other cookies the legal basis is the data subject's consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which is free, specific, informed and revocable at any time.

6. Consent management

On the first visit to the site a banner is shown that allows the user to:

  • Accept all cookies;
  • Reject all non-strictly-necessary cookies (with the same graphic emphasis as the accept button);
  • Customise consent per category (preferences, statistics, marketing).

Consent is stored locally in the browser under the key l5l-cookie-consent-v1. Until consent is given, no non-technical cookie is installed; third-party tags requiring consent are loaded only after consent is granted, in compliance with Google's Consent Mode v2.

7. Modify or withdraw consent

The user may modify or withdraw consent at any time by clicking the Manage cookies link in the site footer or using the button above. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal (Art. 7(3) GDPR).

8. Disabling cookies in the browser

Cookies may be disabled directly in the browser settings:

Disabling technical cookies may impair the correct functioning of certain sections of the site.

9. Data subject rights

In relation to data collected through cookies, users may exercise at any time the rights provided for by Articles 15-22 GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, withdrawal of consent). For exercise procedures see the Privacy Policy.

10. Complaints to the supervisory authority

A data subject who considers that the processing of their data does not comply with the law has the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali (Art. 77 GDPR).
